A journey that started well over two years ago reached an important milestone on July 15, 2021, which marked one year from when the NEW NCcareers.org was officially launched.  Over that time, the site has seen significant traffic with nearly 200,000 unique visitors. Looking at the website usage analytics, here are some additional insights:

  • Users have found the site valuable. The average user spends nearly 7 minutes on the site and visits more than 4 pages each session.
  • The most common activities are on Explore Occupations, Find My Interests, and Plan My Career pages.
  • Visitors came from across North Carolina.  61 NC towns and cities, from Charlotte to Beulaville, contributed at least 500 visitors apiece.

As NCcareers.org launched, a promise was made to provide significant improvements over the following year to help users access and fully utilize the available data.  Several smaller additions, such as a social media sharing bar as well as extra content and data were added to the site over the year.  A major update to NCcareers.org was released in April that included the highly anticipated log-in feature powered by our partner at CFNC along with additional assessments and user tools.

In addition to continuing to improve data and tools, another major effort was to spread the word about NCcareers.org to all potential users.  During the past year, LEAD has given more than 30 NCcareers.org-specific presentations at conferences and training events across the state such as the NCWorks Partnership Conference, DPI CTE Summer Conference, NC Community College Annual Conference, regional workshops and more.

Another means to promote NCcareers.org was to create quality content for blog articles and videos to help users take full advantage of the career information from the site and share those resources through social media.  NCcareers.org has a dedicated Twitter account and Facebook page

The vision for NCcareers.org is to have continuous enhancement and innovation by providing the latest data and adding value-added website features.  Some of the enhancement in the coming months will include:

  • Home page redesign
  • Lesson Plans for Middle School, High School, and Post-secondary educators
  • More quality content, data, and resources
  • User guides to help users better understand and utilize career information
  • More integration with CFNC and other education and workforce partners.

Thanks for celebrating the first year of NCcareers.org.  We look forward to many more.
