Gov. Bev Perdue today joined executives from BSH Home Appliances Corporation in announcing that the company will make an investment into a new dishwasher line in New Bern.  This investment is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs over the next four years.

A grant that was awarded to Craven Community College by Golden LEAF Foundation will be used toward the purchase of equipment that will train current and future employees of the BSH factory in New Bern, as well as employees of other industries in Craven and surrounding counties.

“My top priority is creating jobs, and BSH’s announcement is another testament to the strong partnership between economic development and education,” Gov. Perdue said.  “Our past commitment to investments in education, workforce development and creating a top-notch business climate are reasons globally competitive companies choose to relocate or expand in North Carolina.”

Gov. Perdue toured the BSH New Bern factory following this afternoon’s announcement.  With an estimated 80% of BSH associates residing in Craven County, this will provide a tremendous economic boost for Craven and surrounding counties.

"Continuing to support the county that our factories have resided in for 14-years now is a true honor,” said Stefan Koss, chief financial officer of BSH Home Appliances Corporation.  “We are excited to be playing an active role hiring employees today and training the workers of tomorrow; we believe the future is very bright for BSH in New Bern and we look forward to our continued expansion.”

BSH Home Appliances Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSH.  BSH Home Appliances Corporation manufactures and markets small and major home appliances and are well known for innovative products.

This announcement follows the recent opening of a new customer service call center at the New Bern location.  Once fully staffed, the call center will employ 30 factory-trained representatives that will assist customers throughout North America.

Other partners that assisted with this project include:  N.C. Department of Commerce, N.C. Community Colleges, Golden LEAF Foundation, Craven County, and City of New Bern.
