Scott Doron, Associate Director
Scott Doron is the Associate Director of the Office of Science, Technology & Innovation. Appointed in 2013, he assists in the Office’s executive functions, including the conducting of research, policy, and programs to ensure the growth of technology jobs critical to the state’s future economy. He also serves as a scientific and technical resource to the Department of Commerce and the Board of Science, Technology & Innovation, and assists with proactive growth and recruitment of innovative firms.
Doron previously directed the Southern Technology Council, part of the Southern Growth Policies Board. In that capacity, he promoted technology-based economic development and emerging industries across the South. He specialized in creating industry/university/government partnerships in a myriad of technology fields, including advanced materials, clean energy, nanotechnology, and entrepreneurship. Other initiatives include identification and dissemination of best practices, and analysis/reporting of technology trends and employment.
Doron previously served as Associate Manager of Strategic Research for the South Carolina Department of Commerce, assisting in the management of a target industry program. He had also served as a Development Analyst for Isis Innovation—the new technology transfer office of Oxford University, in the United Kingdom. Other career experiences include managing a computer technical support department and administering grants for the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Doron earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a B.A. in English and American Studies from the College of Idaho.
