NC Main Street Success Stories

Since the program began in 1980, North Carolina Main Street downtowns have experienced:

  • A gain of $2.25 billion in new investment*,
  • A net gain of 18,000 jobs* and 4,600 businesses*, and
  • Renovation of 4,987* buildings and 5,045 facades*.

2015 NC Main Street Award Winners and Champions

In late 2015, outstanding downtown projects from active NC Main Street communities were entered in the NC Main Street Awards competition and judged by a panel of downtown professionals. At the same time, active NC Main Street programs were given the opportunity to designate as Main Street Champions individuals who had made significant contributions to the success of their local downtowns. Award Winners and Champions were honored at the annual NC Main Street Awards ceremony in Goldsboro on March 17 & 18, 2016.
