Not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates rose in all of North Carolina's 100 counties in January. Thirty-five counties had rates that were either at or below the state's 5.5 percent not seasonally adjusted rate, which increased 0.6 of a percentage point from the December benchmarked unemployment rate.

Unemployment rates increased in all 15 of the North Carolina’s Metropolitan Statistical Areas as well.
