Employment and Wages by Industry, 1990 to Most Recent

The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wage (QCEW) program is responsible for the compilation and analysis of employment, wage and contribution data by industry and geography for all employers covered by North Carolina's Employment Security Law. Data include quarterly and annual summaries by industry of the number of firms, average employment, monthly employment, total wages, average weekly wages, taxable wages, and employer contribution rates to unemployment insurance. The industry data, based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), is provided from 1990 to the present for North Carolina, the 15 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), eight Prosperity Zones, 23 Workforce Development Boards (WDBs), 18 Planning Regions and all 100 counties. Use the NAICS code look-up link below to view descriptions of the various NAICS industry codes.
