Energy Policy Council
The North Carolina Energy Policy Council advises and makes recommendations on energy policy to the governor and General Assembly. It is to be the state’s “central energy policy planning body,” with responsibility to develop and recommend a comprehensive long-range state energy policy for effective management and use of present and future sources of energy – including efficiency, renewable and alternative sources of energy; research and development into alternative energy technologies and improvements to the state’s energy infrastructure and energy economy. The council has 16 members, 12 appointed by the governor, two appointed by the Speaker of the House and two appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
