Almost without exception, businesses cite North Carolina’s high quality workforce as a key factor in their decisions to locate or expand in the state.
Our statewide system of programs raises the quality of our workers by bolstering workforce placement, training and policies. The system also prepares North Carolinians facing economic disadvantage, job loss, and other serious barriers to employment.
Comprised of workforce partner organizations including the Department of Commerce, the North Carolina Community College System and the Employment Security Commission, our comprehensive workforce investment system brings together the resources that individuals, employers and workforce professionals need to prosper in the new global economy, resulting in:
- Increased employment
- Higher earnings
- Strong educational and occupational skills
- More competitive businesses.
Our Workforce Development programs are initiated on the statewide level by the N.C. Commission on Workforce Development and administered on the local level. For more information about these local Workforce Development Boards, click on this link to explore our interactive North Carolina map. Once there, click on the tab above the map labeled "Workforce Development Board Regions."
