TELERX TO CREATE 310 JOBS IN CLEVELAND COUNTY

RALEIGH - Commerce Secretary Jim Fain announced today that Telerx Marketing Inc. plans to invest $8.8 million and create more than 310 jobs over the next three years when it opens a customer service center in Cleveland County. The project was made possible in part by a $450,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Telerx provides support for leading FORTUNE 500 corporations including email, telephone and Internet-based services. The company's focus on complex, customer-care services and its comprehensive offerings have resulted in ongoing growth and development. Although it began in 1980 as an innovative marketing company geared to increasing sales and improving communication within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, Telerx has grown substantially since then, and today provides relationship management services to industries as varied as restaurant/retail; consumer durable goods; and consumer packaged goods such as food and beverage products, personal care and household products, as well as continuing to serve the healthcare industry.

Telerx Senior Vice President Norm Bresmann said the company chose North Carolina for its newest location because, "We are very impressed with the service orientation and work ethic of the people of North Carolina and the spirit of cooperation and community support within the State, Cleveland County, Gardner-Webb University and Cleveland Community College." In addition, Bresmann said the company was "overwhelmed with the hospitality and interest in our business that the citizens of Shelby, Kings Mountain and the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce have demonstrated."

Telerx, which is based in Horsham, Penn., currently operates facilities in Pennsylvania, Texas and British Columbia. The majority of the jobs at the new center in North Carolina will be for customer service representatives.

"I applaud Telerx for selecting Cleveland County for this facility," said Senator Walter Dalton (D-Cleveland, Rutherford). "This is evidence that our recovery is real and is a testament to the area's great workforce."

The One North Carolina Fund assists the state in industry recruitment and expansion by providing grants to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create jobs in the state. Through the use of this Fund, more than 20,000 jobs and $3 billion in investment have been created since 2001. One NC Fund grants require local matching funds, and this grant is contingent upon approval of a grant by the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners.
