Community Services

The Department of Commerce provides local communities with a variety of resources and services to help them realize economic prosperity, plan for new growth and address community needs.

Our professionals meet with local leaders to provide customized community development assistance.

Representatives of local governments, non-profits and development corporations rely on these services, administered by the Department of Commerce, to help them:

• Revitalize downtowns through the North Carolina Main Street Center and the Small Town Main Street Program
• Create a community vision and plan for future development with our Community Planning Program
• Upgrade infrastructure, foster entrepreneurship and provide housing opportunities with Community Development Grants
• Find information about new business opportunities through focused industry support
• Tap into the local workforce development programs
• Recruit, retain and expand new and existing companies in your community through our business incentive programs
