Wanchese Seafood Industrial Park

 

Centrally located on the East Coast of the United States on the South End of historic Roanoke Island in Dare County, N.C., Wanchese Seafood Industrial Park enhances business opportunities in the seafood and marine trades.

 

Our watermen and seafood dealers draw their daily catches from the richest mix of cold and warm water finfish and shellfish on the Atlantic Seaboard. Located in the center of this region’s phenomenal boatbuilding and boat maintenance markets, our marine trade tenants are able to ship their products overnight to major markets up and down the coast (and to other countries through the international airport in Norfolk, Va.)

Recent Economic Analysis

 

The study done in 2005 evaluates the Wanchese Seafood Industrial Park in a twofold manner:

 

  • We conducted face-to-face interviews to better-understand the business environment of each employer. These interviews also were used to help determine the size, scope, and focus of each of the operations.

 

  • We evaluated the impact of the Park on Dare County, on its economic region (N.C. Northeast’s Partnership 1), and on North Carolina.
