The North Carolina Film Council and the state’s film community work with the Governor and state legislators to create financial incentives to encourage film and television production in our state. We provide a lucrative 15% tax credit to filmmakers who spend at least $250,000 in production-related expenses. That translates into an estimated $7.5 million return on a $50 million production spend.
In addition, the Department of Revenue offers qualifying productions a point-of-purchase 1% Sales and Use tax certificate when purchasing production-related goods and services.
