From Hwy 64 East

Take 440 West (Outer Beltline) to Capital Boulevard. Go under the bridge and exit onto Capital Boulevard going south. Continue until Wake Forest Road merges into Capital and you can merge right to get into the lane that turns into Wade Avenue. Go under the Glenwood Avenue Bridge and exit onto Glenwood going south. Methodist Building driveway is first on the right.

From I-85/I-40

Continue on I-40 East as the two Interstates separate. On reaching the Raleigh exits, take the Wade Avenue and Carter-Findley Stadium exit veering to the right as I-40 continues on to Cary. Take Wade Avenue into the city. There are probably 8 stoplights between the 440 Beltline and Saint Mary’s Street. Once past St. Mary’s, get off at the next exit ramp up to Glenwood Avenue. The right hand lane allows right turns into Glenwood. Methodist Building driveway is first on the right.

From US 1/Hwy 64 West

Go past Cary and under the I-40 Bridge on US 1/ Hwy 64. This will become 440 (Inner Beltline), which you take to the Wade Avenue exit. Take the exit to the right after crossing the bridge over Hillsborough Street to come into the city. Turn right onto Wade Avenue. Follow the directions above.

From Hwy 70/401 or I-40 W/440 (Inner Belt Line)

Take the exit to South Saunders/Downtown. This will bring you downtown on McDowell Street (one-way going North). McDowell becomes Capital Boulevard. Take the Wade Avenue exit to the right shortly after crossing the bridge over Peace Street. Wade crosses back over Capital. Once on Wade merge into the right lane. Cross under the Glenwood Avenue Bridge and exit onto Glenwood going south.

The Division of Community Assistance is located in the United Methodist Church Conference Building (corner of Glenwood and Wade). Turn right at the driveway just past the building and immediately turn to the right in front of the building. The only unlocked door is the front door under the walkway. 

The parking lot will be on your left. Visitors park along the covered walkway. (Methodist employees park along the trees across from the covered walkway –DO NOT PARK THERE!) If the parking spaces are full, park in the back or on the other side of the building.

Coming From the West (Waynesville), On I-40

At the intersection of I-40 and I-26 at Exit 46, get in the left-hand lane and take the I-240 East exit for Asheville.
 
Proceed on I-240; after 3-4 minutes you will cross over a large, multi-lane bridge; get in the second lane to the left.  Stay on I-240.  Take Exit 5B, Charlotte Street.

At the end of the exit ramp there is a light; turn right onto Charlotte.
Go one block to the next light—the Beverly-Hanks real estate office will be on your left.  At that light, turn left onto College Street.

Proceed on College going through the next intersection—it has a traffic light.  The road will now go up a hill and start to narrow to two lanes—you will see a tunnel ahead of you. 

At the very last driveway on your left before the tunnel you will see a prominent sign for “Asheville Office Park.”  Turn left; Building B will be in the group of buildings; there is a large letter “B” on the building.  Park in the lot; The office is on the ground floor and straight down the corridor, starting with Room 101.

Coming From the South (Hendersonville), On I-26

At Exit 31A and B, which is the intersection of I-26, I-40, and I-240, stay straight—the sign will say “Asheville” and will be marked I-26 West and I-240; this is the start of I-240.  Proceed as in directions above.

Coming From the East (Morganton), On I-40

Headed west on I-40, look for signs for I-240 West, Asheville. Take the I-240 exit (exit 53).  Past exit 7 on I-240 West, get in the left-hand lane for Exit 6, Chunn’s Cove Road.
 
Take Exit 6.  You will come to a “T” intersection at the end of the ramp; turn left onto Chunn’s Cove Road.  Proceed a short distance and under a bridge; you will come to a light at Tunnel Road.  Turn right onto Tunnel Road.

Proceed through several lights; the road will narrow to two lanes and you will go through the tunnel.

Once out of the tunnel, turn right at the sign for “Asheville Office Park.”  Building B will be in the group of buildings; there is a large letter “B” on the building.  Park in the lot; the office is on the ground floor and straight down the corridor, starting with Rooms 101.

Coming From the North (Tennessee) On I-26 East

From I-26, take the exit for I-240 East/US-74A

Do not take the exit for Patton Ave—keep going towards I-240 East; as you merge you will be going to the right quickly; the merge lane is very short.

Look for Exit 5B, Charlotte Street.  Proceed as in directions above for coming from the west.
