Energy Efficiency and Alternative Energy
North Carolina invests significant state resources to increase energy efficiency and to promote the use of alternative energy. The N.C. ARC Program, in partnership with the N.C. Energy Office, the Energy Center at Appalachian State University, and others plays an important role in North Carolina’s efforts through implementing initiatives identified in the ARC Energy Blueprint.
North Carolina Green Economy Resource Directory
The purpose of the N.C. Green Economy Resource Directory is to highlight local, regional, state, and national organizations that provide support, guidance, funding, incentives and education for North Carolina’s green economy. Designed with collaboration in mind, suggestions are expected.
Energy Efficiency in Appalachia
Prepared for ARC by the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance, March 2009
The Energy Efficiency in Appalachia report assesses the long-term energy-efficiency gains that could be achieved by implementing energy-efficiency policies throughout Appalachia. The report examines energy-efficiency resources in Appalachia; the timeframe for harnessing these resources; and the policies and programs that could most effectively translate these resources into energy savings, as well as the impact those policies and programs could have on jobs and wages in Appalachia. It addresses several essential questions:
- How big are the energy-efficiency resources in Appalachia?
- How quickly can these energy-efficiency resources be realized?
- What policies and programs can most effectively translate these resources into energy savings?
- What impact will such policies and programs have on jobs and wages in Appalachia?
