Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing
Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, prohibits discrimination concerning the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on
race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, handicap and familial status.
The Housing and Community Development Act (HCDA) of 1974, as amended, requires that recipients
certify prior to receiving CDBG funds that they will implement activities that will
affirmatively further fair housing.
Templates
Every grantee needs to complete a Fair Housing Plan, using CI’s template. View grantee Fair Housing Contacts here.
Grantees with populations of 10,000 or more need to complete an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice Study (AI). A suggested AI outline is provided by HUD. Available grantee AI studies are posted here.
Please note that there is no prior approval of the above documents by Compliance Staff. However, if technical assistance is needed, please email compliance@nccommerce.com.
