The North Carolina State Energy Office serves as the official source for energy information and assistance for consumers, businesses, government agencies, community colleges and schools, and the residential, commercial industrial sectors.
Low-interest loans secured by bank letter of credit (non-applicable for local governments and school systems) are available for up to $500,000 for improvements that lead to lower energy costs for schools and community colleges, nonprofits, local governments businesses and industry.
The Energy Improvement Loan Program is available for commercial and non-profit entities. Fannie Mae also offers and energy efficient mortgages through several North Carolina lenders. In addition, state and federal tax incentives can be combined with these programs to further renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
Qualifying organizations making energy-saving enhancements can take advantage of these loans through the Energy Improvement Loan Program (EILP) sponsored by the State Energy Office.
