Business Planning and Resources

A business plan is a critical part of any loan application, and an important tool for keeping your business on track

Your business plan helps you allocate resources properly, handle unforeseen complications, and make good business decisions. It also provides specific and organized information about your company and how you will repay borrowed money. A business plan precisely defines your business, identifies your goals, and serves as your road map to success in North Carolina!

The following questions form the core elements of your business plan, which will always be required for loans and usually required by any potential investor:

  • What service or product will your business provide?
  • What needs will it fill?
  • Who are your customers? Why will they buy from you? How will you reach them?
  • Where will you get the financial resources?

We cannot overemphasize the importance of a comprehensive and thoughtful business plan. The Small Business Centers located at our Community Colleges will assist you in preparing a business plan.  Your business plan will help you obtain outside funding and get credit from suppliers.  In addition, your plan will help you manage your operation and finances, market your business, and achieve your goals and objectives.
