 North Carolina's Outer Banks Shoreline

ABOUT OUR OFFICE

The Northeastern Regional Office (NERO) provides planning services to a twenty three county region known as the coastal plains. Our planning area begins with a chain of narrow, sandy barrier islands known as the Outer Banks and stretches as far west as Greene County and as far south as Onslow County.  The coastal plains are North Carolina’s most rural section, with few large cities or towns to speak of. Considering the NERO office predominately collaborates with smaller municipalities, Eastern North Carolinas rurality has assisted our team of planners in developing long-lasting relationships with a host of communities.  The Northeastern Regional Office staff has expertise in strategic planning, long-range planning and visioning, the development and implementation of land use ordinances, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), downtown revitalization, historic preservation and North Carolina planning statutes.  We also provide customized training programs to local planning boards, boards of adjustment, historic district commissions and governing boards.

To request planning services from the Northeastern Regional Office, please contact Lee Padrick, Chief Planner, at (252) 974-1308.
