Small Business Technology Funding

Awards state matching funds to North Carolina businesses for innovation and technology transfer.

The One North Carolina Small Business Program awards state matching funds to North Carolina businesses who have been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program award by the corresponding U.S. government program.

The Federal SBIR/STTR Program provides funding competitions in two phases that are relevant to the North Carolina program: Phase 1 conducts feasibility research and Phase II expands and develops Phase I results and develops commercially viable innovations.

The One North Carolina Small Business Program is administered by the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology.  This board advises and makes recommendations to the governor, the General Assembly, the Secretary of Commerce and the Economic Development Board on the role of science and technology in the economic growth and development of North Carolina.
