The North Carolina Commission on Workforce Development recommends policies and strategies that enable the state's workforce to compete in the current and future global economy.
Mission - To establish and guide a world-class workforce development system for North Carolina that will be comprehensive, integrated, relevant, and effective. This system will produce well-educated, highly skilled workers who perform at high levels and work in economically viable enterprises that provide good jobs at good wages.
The Commission is designated as the State's Workforce Investment Board under the federal Workforce Investment Act of 1998. Led by a private sector chair, the 38-member Commission includes representatives from the business community, heads of state workforce agencies, educators, community leaders and representatives from organized labor.
