WIA Annual Report - 2000 North Carolina State of the Workforce Reports
The North Carolina State of the Workforce Report projects the state's labor market demand and supply during the next decade. The report identifies several key issues that will likely arise given current trends and if there were no major economic shifts. While we cannot, by any means, control all of the factors that influence our economic future, we could make policy choices to influence our direction. The report identifies several key facts about the industry's workforce needs and available talent that have potentially significant implications for the State's future economic prosperity. Our policy choices can influence or mitigate these facts. If you have questions or comments, contact Beth Lucas at blucas@nccommerce.com.

Policy Recommendations by the Valuing Education Task Force
The Commission on Workforce Development assembled a task force in 2008 to address findings which emerged from the State of the Workforce Report. This group, named the Valuing Education Task Force, met to identify several key areas where the Commission on Workforce Development could recommend changes that would assist in the long-term development of a workforce that is better educated, more connected to the education system, and more likely to find opportunities to learn and grow in North Carolina. Furthermore, the group discussed ways to advance workforce development, economic development and education systems that are better integrated at all levels. Ultimately, twelve policy recommendations were developed by the Task Force and were approved by the Commission on February 25, 2009.
